Keeping Our Daughters Active

Summary: According to a recent study about 1 in 3 girls are participating in organized sport. This has increased significantly from 1972 when Title IX was mandated. While this is positive news, the downside is that this decreases when girls become teenagers. They are only half as likely as teen boys to be physically active. A number of factors have contributed to this including messages from parents, and lack of opportunities in school. For example, the number of schools offering physical education has decreased over the years.
