Summary: The rules of sex can often seem like the rules of golf. Many rules regarding sex have their origins in ancient times and are often related to religious rituals and holidays. People have sexual impulses and couples establish rules to put boundaries on those impulses. The challenge can be where to draw those boundaries and how will partners feel when those impulses are acted upon even when they are within the “rules”. When boundaries are tested couples will often go back and revise the “rules”.
